Crowning glory

Finally he reached his ultimate goal! What is the goal? the reader could ask himself, while insiders already know the answer. Günter Prange wanted to win Gouden Duif 6 times, and now he has achieved this goal. Our warmest congratulations on this excellent achievement. Six nominations and 33 points were his winning score. In fact, in 2013, Günther only raced for Gouden Duif. And how he managed to achieve this success, we will inform you about the following.

Consequently, we again went to Meppen in Germany, and I must say ... with pleasure. Because talking about pigeons with the Günter Prange is always very special. Do you know Günter Prange? Do you know his skills and knowledge as a breeder and racer? Do you know his excellent tea? And I do not mean tea for pigeons, but tea, which he presents to his guests.

In fact, not so much is known about Günter Prange, and why? Good, because Günter Prange is a very discreet person and does not want to be the center of attention. He does not have a website and is hard to master. Just try to contact him by phone, there is little chance that you will succeed. Günter Prange does not produce large quantities of pigeons and is not very interested in selling pigeons.

He really holds pigeons for his own pleasure, even his passion. He is not interested in the championships of Germany, so he does not need to participate in every race. He goes on vacation when it suits him, even during the racing season, and it also happened that he was sleeping and that the pigeons had already arrived home.If Günter Prange were an easily accessible person, Meppen would undoubtedly be Meppen for pigeon lovers and be overrun by fans, but this is not the case. Until now, Günter Prange remained the modest favorite he has always been.

Last season, Günter Prange also did not participate in every race. Why not?

As already mentioned, he is not interested in national championships and Ace pigeon titles. He just wants to enjoy racing pigeons, and he can do it without participating in every race. I believe that he only entered eight races for old pigeons. But when he took part, his accomplishments were simply astounding. You will notice that when you see its results. When Günter Prange seriously enters the race, he does it at the highest level.

Years passed when he did not pay full attention to the races or even did not participate at all. There was one year that I remember, I think that in 2002 he went on vacation to Sweden after several races. When he returned, he simply took the winning place and left. He only participated in 9 of 13 races, and even so, his score was fantastic.

Günter Prange allows old pigeons to work well to stay in the nursery for the rest of their days. He told us, for example, about this 20-year-old pigeon, which is still very active. Of course, he does not fertilize the eggs, but he is still perfectly healthy. This is his old breeder, "959" since 1994, and when we took him into our own hands, we marveled at his weight, his plumage, the color of his eyes, in short, his general condition.

For years, this “959” (NL94-2227959) was the absolute best depth for Günter Prange. He bought it from Cornelis and Gerard Koopman, and he is the son of “Beatrix-doffer” from “Sultana” (from “Eric 'x' Wonderduifje '065'). "959" is the father, grandfather and great-grandfather of an entire series of ace-pigeons. He was particularly well connected with Bellens-duivin 736. 02098-97-330, the son of this pair, flew eight first prizes, and also belonged to the best breeders of the colony in Meppen. In the 2001 season, 330 won 10 prizes, and with this scored 968.01 points available from 1000 Ace pigeon points.

The other son "959" was the so-called "Ringlose", which now has reached legendary status. He became the father of many prominent breeders. His mother was from the old Delbar line of Günter Prange.

Considered by many pigeon breeders as the best pigeon in Europe at the moment ...

The son of "Ringlose", 02098-99-802, became in 2001 the first member of Ace in Germany. And from the daughter of the “Ringlose”, 02098-99-704, the famous combination of Bernhard Beumer-Theo Sandbothe produced dove 05991-01-1011, which became a member of the 1st Ace of Germany in 2002. In 2003, it almost happened again that the son of Ringlose won the title Ace pigeon. This time again with Günter. This was 02098-01-1009 from “Ringlose” x NL94-2783577 (from “Ons Louis” x “Zuster Eric”) from Cornelis and Gerard Koopman. As a result, he took 2nd place, although from 598.43 of the available 600 points, and thus became the second Ace member in Germany.

Thus, the results of the children of the Ringlose speak for themselves. Until today, and now we are talking about 2014, the unsurpassed quality of “Ringlose” shines in many places and at all levels. Now it was a look back in time. The fact is that the influence of the Ringlose is huge everywhere. Many top German pigeons descend from it.

In his cattery, Günter Prange used descendants for (rather serious) inbreeding. And these inbred pigeons then regularly mated with fresh blood. Using this method, he achieves great results. Simply put, this means that all his sporting pigeons are connected to each other with the help of a father or mother. Gunther himself says about this: "Breeding is a matter of patience."

Many readers may now think that success is a child's game when you have such beautiful tribal pigeons. But breeding is one thing, and high-level racing is another. To do this, you need to know your work in all its aspects. And this is exactly what makes Günter Prange so successful. So successful that some people attribute him to an almost mythical status. How can it be?

Actually, it is very simple. You should closely monitor the actions of Günter Prange, listen to him and analyze everything that you have observed. Only in this way can you discover its “secrets” that are not really secrets. It is Günter Prange himself who makes his success with his fantastic pigeons and his functional attics.

Günter Prange spends a lot of time in his nurseries, he practically lives with pigeons. He closely follows the behavior of his widowers and knows their strengths and their weaknesses. He recognizes changes in the form of each pigeon and evaluates them separately.

Pigeons mean a lot to him, he lives for them and fights for them. And because of this, Günter Prange notices more than the average amateur.

An amateur who truly understands the art of observation is several steps ahead of the competition. To achieve this goal, you need time, a lot of time. This time Günter Prange uses it. In addition, he has relatively few pigeons, which allows him to visit each pigeon separately. Think you know all your pigeons? Günter Prange knows everyone.

Sadly, retirees and the unemployed can spend more time with their pigeons than people who can still work during the day. These working lovers must succeed in keeping not so many pigeons, which will almost certainly increase the level of productivity.

Günter Prange will not participate in widows in any official races in 2014. He wants to wait a bit and relax. We will have to wait for how long he can continue in the same vein ...

Günter Prange is a man who analyzes in the smallest detail everything about pigeons and the nursery. He studies his pigeons, draws his own conclusions and takes appropriate measures. All this and his extensive professional knowledge make him so successful.
